A large director processor with presence in 140 countries, founded in 1989 in the UK.
WorldPay has established itself throughout the years, starting in 1989 and spreading to 140 countries. It started in the UK under the name "Streamline" and its name was changed to WorldPay some years later. In 1994, they became one of the first in the market to offer internet-based payment.
WorldPay began offering merchant accounts in the US in 2001, specifically in Atlanta, Georgia. Vantiv acquired Worldpay in 2018 for $10 billion. The merger acquired the name of Worldpay, Inc and became the number one Global Merchant Acquirer.
Not much time passed by when another merger took place when Fidelity National Information Services acquired Worldpay for $43 billion in March 2019. With a company this large, they are usually operating behind the scenes through a smaller merchant service provider.

Worldpay from FIS (official name under which it operates after the merger) offers debit and credit card processing either via the large corporation or indirectly through smaller merchant providers. You can find an extensive directory of enterprise-level business services.
One outstanding aspect is the integration of third-party bookkeeping and POS software. The Point-of-Sale systems are third-party ran but integrated with integrated software.
Another important advantage of Worldpay is that they use a direct processor, as opposed to many merchants which will use a third-party processor. This means that clients get an in-house merchant account.
Worldpay uses Smartpay Series, which is an emphasis on "smart terminals" that the company works with. This system is a step forward from traditional terminals and POS systems. As of right, now this merchant provides Carbon 10, Carbon 8, and Pax A920 setups to provide faster and safer payments.
For a more seamless support of eCommerce, Worldpay Total is a propriety payment gateway software that supports online and in-person transactions. With a virtual terminal, any computer can become a credit card terminal. In the past, Worldpay offered Vantiv's Virtual Terminal Plus to enable this feature.
Worldpay uses the SwipeSimple app to provide customers easy mobile payment options. This is a third-party product integrated with many merchant account providers.
Their countertop credit card terminals all support EMV and NFC payment methods.

The company has a good number of complaints and not really good ratings on most reviewing sites. This is a large merchant provider that is not that competent when it comes to customer service, sales transparency, and some contractual practices.
On the BBB website, Worldpay has a customer review of 1/5 stars. It is important to note that customer reviews are not used in calculating BBB rating, as specified on their site.
In 2010, BBB gave the company an "A-" rating, despite having accumulated 128 complaints in 36 months, most of which had to do with products and services. This business is currently not BB accredited.
