NXGEN Payment Services Overview
NXGEN Payment Services is a merchant account provider that was founded in 2002 by Thomas Nitopi, who still acts as the firm’s CEO today.
NXGEN initially only offered service to merchants residing in the U.S.A but the firm later launched a joint venture to operate in Canada under the DBA NXGEN Canada. This partnership is no longer active and NXGEN USA instead now operates internationally under the DBA – NXG International Payment Services.
The firm is headquartered in Whitefish, Montana, and is a registered ISO/MSP of Elavon and Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. in Concord, California.
NXGEN advertises itself as “The global leader in payment solutions” and has achieved the following milestones to support that claim:
- 2017 Elavon Arch Award – given to the Merchant Service Providers with the highest transaction volume in the industry
- 2016 ISO Of The Year – the payment processing industry’s most prestigious award given to businesses making advancements in the payment industry
- 2015 Largest MSP/ISO of Elavon (by processing volume)

NXGEN Payment Services Advertising & Sales
NXGEN appears to employ independent sales agents to market its services, which generally results in a larger percentage of customer complaints. This convention upholds with NXGEN as the firm faces a number of customer complaints for its allegedly aggressive sales tactics.
We have also located a few negative reviews from NXGEN’s own sales agents that accuse the firm of rolling out new “programs” that can automatically and unknowingly enroll merchant clients, leading to additional fees.
