Ignite Payments Overview
Ignite Payments was established in June 2013 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of First Data. However, First Data chose to dissolve the brand in 2019. What’s left of Ignite Payments now exists under the CardConnect brand.
CardConnect offers a variety of payment solutions with options that will appeal to merchants of all sizes. The company resells First Data payment gateways and virtual terminals. Merchants can also lease several types of Clover POS systems through CardConnect.
CardConnect is not forthcoming about its pricing or contracts. However, previous customers claim that the company favors long-term deals with hefty fees. CardConnect appears to charge a per-transaction rate of around 2.32% + 0.25% + $0.07.
The company currently has a B+ rating with the Better Business Bureau but it has received a moderate number of online complaints. Many of these complaints focus on CardConnect’s poor customer service.

Ignite Payments Products & Services
eCommerce Payment Gateways and Plugins
The CardPointe Gateway is a good choice for merchants looking for a way to process online payments. It was built from the ground up with the needs of eCommerce companies in mind.
With the CardPointe Gateway, you’ll be able to accept a wide variety of payment types, both online and in person. It also features omnichannel processing, easy-to-use API integrations, and detailed transaction reporting.
Clover POS Systems
CardConnect also offers Clover POS systems. These offer a lot of functionality and they’re perfect for the needs of small retail stores. The company offers a few different Clover products to choose from, including the Clover Station, Mini, Flex, and Go. Each of these can be customized with various apps and integrations to give you a ton of flexibility over how you manage your operations.
CardPointe Integrated Business Management Platform
CardConnect’s CardPointe platform was built to be a single payment processing solution for medium and large businesses. It should be the only processing tool that you need to manage both your in-person and online sales.
Here’s what you’ll get from the Cardpointe platform:
- Transaction management tools
- Countertop terminal
- Virtual terminal
- Mobile business management and payment processing app
- Hosted payment page
- Integrations and add-ons
Ignite Payments Advertising & Sales
CardConnect’s advertising practices appear to be solid. The company doesn’t advertise deceptive rates on its website and we weren’t able to find any examples of it being deceptive in other ways.
That being said, CardConnect does hire independent sales agents and has received a moderate number of complaints about its sales practices. However, this is not uncommon in the payment processing industry and the company appears to be more forthright about its offerings than many of its competitors.

Ignite Payments Pricing, Rates & Fees
Unfortunately, it’s difficult to say exactly what CardConnect charges for its services. The company doesn’t advertise its rates online. However, we were able to get a general sense of the price range that merchants can expect from online reviews.
According to merchant reviews, CardConnect has a swiped transaction rate of 2.32% + 0.25% + $0.07. The company’s keyed-in rate is roughly the same. However, these numbers should be taken with a grain of salt as they aren’t sourced from the company itself.

CardConnect has received a decent number of complaints about its customer service. However, the company’s offerings in that category are about in line with the industry’s average. CardConnect provides merchants with domestic phone support during business hours and has an online FAQ available to provide answers for common questions.
The company’s setup services are also pretty standard in the payment processing industry. CardConnect has an online knowledge base that merchants can look at to get answers to common questions. The company also offers live online 1-on-1 support to merchants who need it.
