XCharge Overview

Some confusion is created by an ongoing transition from doing business under the XCharge brand to the OpenEdge brand; They are one in the same. This company also does business under the Accelerated Payment Technologies brand.

XCharge has been in business since 1983 but appears to have been acquired by Global Payments in August 2012. Much of the XCharge website has been updated with OpenEdge branding, suggesting XCharge now operates under the OpenEdge umbrella.

XCharge Advertising & Sales

XCharge appears to rely on paid-by-commission independent agents to market its services. This practice is common within the merchant services industry and is often a major cause for complaints among small business owners. In this case, we are able to locate a handful of negative XCharge reviews that accuse one of the company’s sales reps of misrepresentation or nondisclosure of rates. We have also found documents online that indicate that at least two lawsuits have been filed against the company by former sales agents, and these documents seem to suggest that these former employees feel they were denied appropriate compensation for their services.

XCharge Pricing, Rates & Fees

Like many providers, XCharge doesn’t disclose any pricing information on its website. There are two reasons for this. First, pricing is customized to each merchant. There are no standard fees that apply to every merchant using XCharge. Second, all fees and rates charged for merchant accounts are paid to Global Payments, not XCharge. When you sign up for XCharge, your Merchant Application is actually through Global Payments. XCharge is listed as a third-party software vendor.
