Visit National Processing

National Processing is a merchant account provider headquartered in Lindon, Utah. Established in 2007, it's a rather small company compared to other leading names in the payments industry but punches well above its weight in terms of pricing and service.

National Processing Overview

National Processing is a merchant account provider that offers credit card processing services as well as ACH processing. They guarantee their merchants 100% satisfaction. With this processor your rates are locked in- merchants will not be blindsided by new or increased fees. This processor is pretty transparent about their competitive interchange plus pricing and fees, as well as having numerous positive reviews from merchants who use their services. For these reasons, National Processing receives a very good rating.

This processor does not claim to specialize in high-risk accounts, so our recommendation is that low-to-mid risk businesses are the ones who should seek their services.

If you are looking to use any particular equipment or software, National Processing has partnerships with brands like Clover, Merchant Foundry, Authorize.net, Verifone, Ingenico, and Poynt.

National Processing also has programs for ISOs/agents and affiliates.

Note: National Processing should not be confused with similarly named merchant services company, National Processing Company (NPC). These are two very different companies with different rates, policies, and reviews.

National Processing Products & Services

National Processing has countertop, mobile, and POS equipment from brands like Verifone, Ingenico, Poynt, and Clover. They actually carry the full line of Clover products and offer free Clover Go equipment to their merchants. For merchants that are on their more expensive monthly pricing plans, they offer free equipment (other than Clover Go) as well as a free terminal upgrade every 2 years. Merchants need to be aware that using the free equipment program does mean your account will incur cancellation fees.

National Processing partners with Authorize.net to offer online payment solutions in the form of virtual terminals, e-invoicing, API’s & integrations for website/shopping carts, and ACH payments. The ACH platform accommodates same-day processing as well as one-time & recurring transactions.

If you are interested in having a cloud based marketing and CRM tool for your business, National Processing also partners with Merchant Foundry to provide that service.

National Processing Advertising & Sales

National Processing does advertise a good amount of their pricing on their website, which is not typical for the merchant services industry. The website is simple, but informative, acting as a good marketing tool to get merchants on the line. The homepage has company reviews from Google, so this processor is not afraid to show prospective merchants what their existing merchants are saying. This leads us to believe most of the merchants that use National Processing are happy with the service and pricing.

National Processing relies on independent sales agents to obtain merchant accounts. High-pressure selling & less-than-transparent promises about rates, fees & contract terms are typical with independent agents, but no public complaints can be found regarding this. So, it appears that National Processing does a very good job monitoring & supervising their sales agents. Overall, this processor can be considered truthful and ethical in their business practices.

National Processing Pricing, Rates & Fees

National Processing claims to have simple and transparent interchange plus pricing with no upfront fees- according to reviews this appears to be true. When merchants open an account, their rates are locked in for the entire lifespan of the account, regardless of changes in processing.

National Processing has pricing packages broken down by business size and industry:

BEST FOR SMALL TO MEDIUM BUSINESSES
Restaurant
Monthly Cost: $10 /mo+ interchange
Transactions Cost: 0.15% + $0.07

Retail
Monthly Cost: $10 /mo+ interchange
Transactions Cost: 0.20% + $0.10

eCommerce
Monthly Cost: $10 /mo+ interchange
Transactions Cost: 0.30% + $0.15

BEST FOR LARGER BUSINESSES
Monthly Cost: $59 /mo *+ interchange to $199 /mo *+ interchange
Transactions Cost: 0% + $0.09 to 0% + $0.05

Each package has different equipment perks, but all packages have a rate lock guarantee, chargeback/risk monitoring, next-day funding available, PCI compliance support, QuickBooks integrations, and 24/7 domestic support. The pricing chart that is available on their website is based on low-risk merchants. Hence, depending on the nature of your business, your pricing package could be cheaper or more expensive than what is advertised.

If merchants wish to use the ACH processing feature that National Processing offers, that package starts at 48¢/trans and $15/month.

National Processing will not charge an early termination fee (ETF) in the event of the business being sold/closed or if they cannot meet or beat competitor rates (restrictions apply).

National Processing has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. They back it up with a $500 Visa gift card to merchants if they cannot beat the merchants’ current rates with another processor (offer only applies to merchants processing over $10k/month). With this in mind, this may not be the most competitive option for merchants that process less than $10k/month.

National Processing Complaints, Ratings & Reviews

By and large, the reviews for National Processing are very positive. Several reviewers claim to experience top-notch customer service that is quick and responsive, in addition to saving money on their processing. There are a few negative reviews, but they appear to be isolated incidents.

The BBB gives National Processing an “A+” rating. The BBB doesn’t report any reviews, but there is one complaint that appears to have been resolved.

On Yelp the 2 reviews are not great for this company.  One of these reviews could possibly not be about this processor; it seems the individual may be confused and trying to rate another business.
