Etsy Direct Checkout was renamed Etsy Payments in 2017.

This method of accepting payments for purchases made on the Etsy website allows merchants to receive payments from credit cards without the need for a third-party payment processor.

Etsy Direct Checkout is made possible because of the company’s partnerships with services like Adyen, PayPal and WorldPay.

Etsy Direct Checkout Overview

Etsy Direct Checkout was changed to Etsy Payments in May of 2017. This is a merchant account solution that allows Etsy sellers to accept debit and credit card payments from customers who shop in their online stores on the Etsy website.

Etsy Payments is the only option that is currently available for accepting ecommerce payments on the Etsy website at this time.

Etsy is not a payment processing company, but it has integrated with several third-party payment processing companies in order to provide credit card processing services for customers.

The CEO of Etsy is Josh Silverman, and the company is headquartered in Brooklyn, New York.

Hardware & Software

Etsy Direct Checkout is a virtual gateway service that Etsy provides through its integration with multiple third-party payment processing companies. The company works with WorldPay, Adyen and PayPal to provide this service.

Etsy merchants are also no longer able to accept payments directly from PayPal unless they have an Etsy Direct Checkout or Etsy Payments account.
