VAR Sheet Definition

A VAR Sheet is a file that containing all the critical information for a merchant account, such as the MID, bank account information, business information, processor information, etc.

"VAR" is an acronym for "Value Added Reseller".

What is the purpose of a VAR Sheet?

For card-present transactions, or when being used by a physical terminal, VAR Sheets are provided to (loaded by) terminals allowing it to access information and communicate with the merchant account provider to complete the payment process.

For card-not-present (CNP) transactions, or when being used with a third party software, the VAR Sheet information is provided to the payment gateway, which allows the gateway to communicate with the merchant account provider to complete the payment process.

Getting a VAR Sheet is the final step in merchant account application approval process.
