Buyer's Guide

How To Choose The Best T8

In fact, many modern homes rely heavily on these types of lights for interior illumination purposes.

Inside the glass envelope is a small amount of inert gas which acts as insulation between the hot filament and the outside environment. Once electricity passes through the filament, it heats up causing electrons to jump around rapidly. As the electrons bounce back and forth, they emit visible light.

First, they provide excellent color rendering properties. Second, they produce more lumens per watt compared to other common household incandescent bulbs. Third, they last longer than traditional incandescent bulbs. Fourth, they consume less power than halogen bulbs. Fifth, they're safer than regular incandescence bulbs since there is no exposed filament. Sixth, they're easy to install and replace. Seventh, they require little maintenance. Eighth, they're available in different colors including white, yellow, red, blue, green, orange, purple, pink, and black. Ninth, they're ideal for both residential and commercial settings. Tenth, they're suitable for outdoor uses as well. Finally, they're relatively inexpensive.

Which One Is Better?

However, many manufacturers now sell HECBs, which are designed specifically for residential use. Mercury is toxic to humans and animals, and exposure to mercury can cause serious health problems.

Are There Any Other Factors To Consider Before Buying Lighting?

First, consider whether you plan to install the lamp directly above a ceiling fan or recessed downlight. Recessed downlights are typically installed below ceilings and are intended to illuminate areas near the floor. Ceiling fans are mounted higher than most recessed downlights, so installing a HECB above a ceiling fan could result in poor performance. Second, consider where you intend to position the fixture. Some HECBs are designed to mount flush with the wall, whereas others must be positioned slightly away from walls to avoid glare. Third, consider the size of the room. Smaller rooms benefit from using smaller fixtures, since larger fixtures create shadows and cast harsh lines across furniture and artwork. Finally, consider the number of fixtures needed within a particular room. Installing multiple small fixtures creates visual clutter, whereas large fixtures can overwhelm smaller spaces.

Bulbs Size

The size of the bulb matters more than most people think. The bigger the bulb, the brighter the light. So, if you plan on using the fixture for reading, you might want to go with something larger than if you plan on using it for general lighting purposes. If you're unsure, ask someone who uses the fixture regularly. Or, check online reviews before making a purchase.

Lighting Type

Incandescents are generally cheaper and last longer than flourescent bulbs, but they produce heat and consume more electricity. Flourescent bulbs are typically more expensive, but they provide a cleaner, whiter light. Both types of bulbs are suitable for indoor applications. However, if you're planning on installing a lamp outdoors, you probably want to opt for a flourescent bulb.

Fixture Shape

Square fixtures are easier to install and maintain than traditional round fixtures. Rectangular fixtures are best suited for areas where you'd like to create a specific shape of light. If you're going to be working outside, you might want to invest in a rectangular fixture rather than a round one. Otherwise, both styles are suitable for indoor use.

Color Temperature

Warm whites are good for reading while cool whites are ideal for tasks requiring accuracy. Some fixtures let you select a custom color temperature. Others only allow you to change the brightness level. Make sure you know exactly what you're getting into before purchasing a fixture.

Wattage

This number tells you how much power the bulb consumes. Lamps with higher wattages give off more light per unit of electricity consumed. If you're trying to conserve money, you can always lower the wattage of the bulb. Just remember that lowering the wattage will reduce the amount of light produced by the bulb.

Voltage

That's why you see those little black wires coming out of the back of the fixture. Don't worry though, these aren't dangerous. In fact, they're actually part of the circuit that powers the bulb. Voltage refers to the strength of electrical current flowing through the wire. Remember, the voltage determines the amount of power being drawn from the wall outlet. Higher voltages mean greater amounts of power being pulled from the socket. Lower voltages mean less power being pulled from the socket.

The filament emits heat which causes the lamp to glow brightly. Some are designed with special features while others are simply standard models. Here we will discuss the most common ones.

Most of these lamps require no additional wiring other than power cords. They are very versatile and can be used in almost any room in your house. For example, they cannot be dimmed and they produce only warm white light.
